Police Arrest Man on Drug and Gun charges

HPD arrest Cesar Montez Gonzalez after a brief vehicle pursuit and foot chase.

On March 20, Hollister Police Officers arrested Cesar Montez Gonzalez, 30, after a brief vehicle pursuit and foot chase. 
 
According to a report by the HPD, at about 9:35 p.m., a Hollister Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Gonzalez. The vehicle fled and the officer proceeded to pursue Gonzalez due to his reckless actions. 

The report stated that a short time later the vehicle was found near the area of B Street. Additional Officers arrived and were surrounding the area when the suspect was spotted. Gonzalez attempted to flee on foot and after a brief foot pursuit he was taken into custody without further incident, the report said. 

During the course of this investigation, officers learned the vehicle Gonzalez was driving was stolen. There was a large amount of Methamphetamine on his person and an illegal sawed off rifle was in the vehicle, stated the report. 

Gonzalez was booked for resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, evading officers, a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possessing a short barreled rifle, possession of stolen property, a concealed weapon in a vehicle, possessing drug paraphernalia and two felony arrest warrants, the report said.
