HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – December 4, 2013 –
At about 9:00 pm on Tuesday night, Officer Bill Hutchison was on routine patrol and driving by a city parking lot located on the 200 block of Fourth Street. Officer Hutchison noticed a young man brandishing a baseball bat at another passing vehicle. He came back to the parking lot to contact the young man and investigate the incident.
Upon the officer’s return, he noticed the young man with the bat had entered a parked car which was occupied by another passenger. Officer Hutchison spoke with the young man and confirmed the teenager had been in a dispute with the occupants of the other passing car.
A further investigation revealed other weapons in the vehicle in addition to the baseball bat. Police located a switchblade knife and a set of brass knuckles. Hashish was also located in the vehicle as well as smoking pipes and paraphernalia.
The two juveniles were transported to San Benito County Juvenile Hall where one was booked for; possession of a switchblade knife, possession of a switchblade knife in a vehicle, possession of brass knuckles and possession of hashish. The other 16 year old was booked for; possession of a billy club, possessing of a switchblade knife in a vehicle, possession of hashish and transportation of narcotics.

Although Switchblade knives or spring loaded knives and brass knuckles are routinely illegally sold over the internet or in novelty stores, they are banned weapons in California and the possession of them is illegal.
