Police ID alleged Safeway shoplifter

One of the suspects captured on surveillance video allegedly shoplifting from the Safeway store on Tres Pinos Road in Hollister has been identified and arrested. 

On Dec. 8, the Hollister Police Department released surveillance images of people involved with shoplifting crimes in Hollister. One of the images was of a man wearing dark clothing, a red jacket and a 49ers hat walking out of the Safeway.

That man has been identified as Aaron Gastelum, 37, of Hollister. On Dec. 14, officers contacted Gastelum at his home and he was taken into custody without incident. Police say Gastelum also had a pending felony arrest warrant for drugs and a prior burglary. 

He was transported and booked at the San Benito County Jail for the felony warrant and for the alleged shoplifting.
