On October 7, 2013 at about 2:00 am, Hollister Police Officers responded to a report of a man down in the 700 block of East St. Officers arrived and found Michael Cortez (28) suffering from various injuries to his body and Eduardo Cadena (26) also suffering various injuries.

 

Both victims were flown to bay area trauma hospitals to receive medical treatment. Cortez ultimately died a few hours later from his injuries. The surviving victim, Eduardo Cadena, was uncooperative with officers and would not provide any details regarding this matter.

 

Gang Officer Matthew Weiss took over the investigation and during the past two months was able to obtain evidence and leads that identified Heriberto Onate Ramirez (22) as the primary suspect in this incident.

An Arrest Warrant for Heriberto Onate Ramirez has been issued by the San Benito County DA’s Office for murder and attempted murder. All attempts to locate Heriberto Ramirez in Hollister have been unsuccessful. He is described as weighing 215 lbs, 5’ 10” tall with black hair, brown eyes and a goatee. He was last seen driving a silver colored 2007 GMC Sierra truck with California license plate 8W00530.

 

Anyone with information regarding the location of Heriberto Onate Ramirez is encouraged to contact local law enforcement. Heriberto Onate Ramirez is also known to go by the name “Beto Onate”. Heriberto Onate Ramirez is to be considered armed and dangerous.
