Police Identify Victims in Shooting
HOLLISTER, CALIFORNIA – May 13, 2013– On May 12, 2013 at about 1130 P.M., Hollister
Police Officers were dispatched to reports of shots fired in the 600 Block. of Chaparral Court.
Officers discovered four persons suffering from gunshot wounds at the front of a residence in the
600 Blk. of Chaparral Court. Hollister Fire Department and AMR immediately responded and
provided medical care and assessment to the victims. All four victims were transported to area
hospitals.
Two victims identified as Ignacio Ruiz (20 yrs) and Cruz Navarro (18 yrs) were both pronounced
deceased a short time after arrival at Hazel Hawkins Hospital. Both victims suffered gunshot
wounds. The victims’ families have been notified.
Two additional adult males suffered gunshot wounds. Both were flown to bay area hospitals for
medical treatment. Medical status for both of these victims is pending medical treatment.
Witnesses in the area at the time of this incident saw a light colored minivan leave the area
around the time of this incident.
Hollister Police Department needs your help; if you’ve seen something or heard something
related with this incident please call and speak with one of our officers or detectives. The
remaining victims and other persons identified as being at the incident have remained
uncooperative with investigators. This incident still appears to be gang motivated and has been
assigned to Hollister Police Department Gang Officer, Officer Weiss.
