Overall reported criminal activity was down when comparing the just-completed downtown motorcycle rally to last year’s event, according to statistics released July 7 by the Hollister Police Department.
There were 32 criminal reports, 28 arrests, 16 citations, 11 DUI’s and four collisions during the Friday through Sunday event this year. That compares to 36 criminal reports, 30 arrests, 32 citations, 12 DUI’s and six collisions in 2013.
According to a rally event summary released by police on Monday, there were no significant events in the downtown rally event area on Friday, July 4, the first official day of the motorcycle rally. On Saturday, July 5, the following arrests were made:

- Raymond Ortiz Jr (26 yrs) was for a violation of probation terms in the 200 Blk. of Sixth St.Â
- Kelly Rivas (51 yrs) was arrested for a concealed knife on his person in the 500 Blk. of San Benito St.Â
- Samuel Ruiz (29 yrs) was arrested for fighting and resisting arrest in the 400 Blk. of San Benito St.Â
- Pablo Camacho Jr. (26 yrs) was arrested for fighting and resisting arrest in the 400 Blk. of San Benito St.Â
- Alexander Trujillo (22 yrs) was arrested for violation of a restraining order in the 300 Blk. of Fifth St.Â
- Simon Garcia Jr (32 yrs) was arrested for battery in the 400 Blk. of San BenitoÂ
On Sunday, July 6, the last day of the rally, no signifcant incidents were reported in the downtown rally area, as San Benito Street re-opened to vehicular traffic at 5:27 p.m. That does not take into account the shooting incident at the Chevron Station at 631 San Felipe Road.
