The Hollister Police Department is seeking information regarding the identity of a hit-and-run collision suspect.

On the afternoon of Nov. 29, at about 4 p.m., a vehicle versus pedestrian hit-and-run collision occurred at the intersection of San Benito and Third streets. The driver of the vehicle fled from the area prior to the arrival of officers and has not been located, police said in a press release.

Officers spoke with the victim, who said he was crossing the street in the crosswalk on Third Street with a green light for him when the suspect vehicle approached him and struck the duffle bag he was carrying over his shoulder. The force of the impact ripped the duffle bag away from him, ripping the strap and causing injury to his shoulder.

Officers also learned that there was an unidentified female witness that left prior to the officer’s arrival and has not been contacted at this time.

The suspect vehicle is described as a newer model black four-door compact pick-up. The downtown camera system captured the truck heading southbound on San Benito Street after the incident. The vehicle appears to be a Nissan truck, police said.

The police department would like to make contact with the witness that left prior to the police arrival and especially to contact the driver of the truck.
