On Sept. 19, the Hollister City Council approved the fees for Live Scan fingerprinting at the Hollister Police Department.

The Hollister Police Department has received a new Live Scan fingerprinting machine purchased through the Remote Access Network (RAN) using money from fees on every vehicle registered in the County of San Benito.

The Live Scan machine is the same model currently in use at the jail and juvenile hall facilities in the county. However, the machine at the Hollister Police Department will be used primarily to assist the community of Hollister and its citizens who require fingerprinting services.

Residents require fingerprinting services for various reasons such as pre-employment needs, immigration visas, child adoptions or volunteering at our schools or nonprofit organizations.

The Police Department will charge a fee of $15 for the general public and a reduced fee of $10 for registered nonprofit youth organizations. However, there are state fees or federal fees associated with the fingerprinting depending on the type of Live Scan needed and the purpose of the scan.

The Live Scan services will be available on an appointment basis on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on a walk-in basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anyone interested in making an appointment is asked to call 831-636-4330, extension 106.

You must bring your Request For Live Scan Services form with you. Police ask that you have your portion of the form filled out in advance. You will also need to show a valid government issued photo ID. If you do not have a copy of the Request for Live Scan Services form, you may find them at the State of California, Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General's website: https://oag.ca.gov/fingerprints.

The police department only takes checks and cash at this time. However, it will soon be accepting credit cards and debit cards for fee payments.
