LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!
The County of San Benito will conduct a public hearing by the Community Action Board on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Health & Human Services Agency located at 1111 San Felipe Road, Suite 108, Hollister, CA 95023. The purpose of the hearing is to discuss possible activities for this year’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application and to solicit citizen input on possible activities to be included in the applications.
For this year’s CDBG Application, San Benito County will be applying for Public Services and Public Facilities for a total request of $2,000,000. Here is an overview of proposed services
Public Services– $500,000:
-$200,000: Operations of Emmaus House (shelter for victims of domestic violence)
-$200,000: Homeless advocacy services, outreach, case management, support services
-$62,500: Youth activities in the areas of Prevention and intervention services in the form of scholarships to support low-income youth and children.
-Approximately $37,500 will go towards admin fees as allowed by the State (7.5%)
Public Facilities: $1,500,000 for Year-round Homeless Day Facility and transitional shelter. The Day Facility will be a safe structured place where homeless individuals and families can come to during the daytime hours. The Day Facility will be equipped with showers, restrooms, lockers, mail services, commercial kitchen and private counselling rooms. In addition, this facility will be used for the operations of the Emergency Homeless Winter Shelter.
The purpose of this public hearing will be to give citizens an opportunity to make their comments known regarding what types of eligible activities the County should be applying for under the State CDBG program.
