As former San Benito County Supervisors, we are acutely aware that Hazel Hawkins Hospital, like many rural hospitals in California, is in financial peril, leaving the Hospital vulnerable to service reductions or permanent closure.
County citizens need independent leadership on the elected Hospital Board of Directors to address the many obstacles facing Hazel Hawkins Hospital.
That’s why we’re urging voters in Zone 4, including South County residents, to support Paul W. Breen for election to the Hospital Board. We believe Paul has what it takes to do the job effectively.
Paul is a 5th generation resident of the County and was born at the former HHH facility on Monterey Street. His 2 sons were born at the new Hospital facility. Paul attended Hollister High School and received his undergraduate degree in political science from Stanford University. After graduation, he worked for 3 years in Washington, D.C., as a legislative assistant for a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, after which he attended law school at Santa Clara University. He practiced for 34 years with a 40-member law firm with offices in San Luis Obispo, Monterey and San Jose. He was on the board of directors of the firm for over 20 years. He served as a Judge Pro Tem for 12 years for the Santa Clara County Superior Courts. Paul is a 3-time president of the San Benito County Bar Association.
Paul Breen will bring an experienced and impartial voice to the Hospital Board. We endorse him.
