With an eye toward raising awareness and funding for parks throughout San Benito County, the Board of Supervisors recently agreed to a partnership with the R.E.A.C.H. (Recreation, Exercise and Community Health) San Benito Foundation. The nonprofit foundation was established to help broaden the potential for funding parks, recreation programs, services and facilities.

"This group was created to help infuse some money into the local parks and other (recreation ventures) that the county is doing," said Sara Fontanos, a county management analyst. "One of the requirements for nonprofit organizations is to have some sort of contract tied to it. They have to have a relationship in order for them to be accepted for the grant review process."

Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution supporting the partnership with R.E.A.C.H. as Fontanos said the board "wants to advocate a healthy environment and health county."
