The academic year is almost over, and while some students may be dreaming of a summer of carefree fun, others are planning to make that time count. Summer is a great time to take college classes, either to get ahead or to really be able to focus on a single subject. This is also the best time to register for fall semester classes, while there are still a lot of options available.
Continuing students, new students, returning students, and high school students can now register for summer session and fall semester classes at Gavilan College. Gavilan College offers degree and certificate programs leading to university transfer and careers, including nine options for the new California Associate’s Degree for Transfer, guaranteeing transfer to California State University with successful completion of the degree program. Fees are $46 per unit for California residents.
DETAILS:
Continuing students, meaning those who are taking classes during the Spring 2013 semester, can enroll during the priority enrollment period, which began on May 6.
Open enrollment for new and returning (those who have enrolled at Gavilan College before, but are not currently enrolled) adult students begins on May 13. New and returning students must submit an application, and complete assessment and orientation prior to registering for classes.
Current high school students (aside from those enrolled at the Gilroy Early College Academy, who have a separate arrangement) are welcome to take college classes if they complete an application, a High School Contract Form, and an assessment test. High school students must provide a high school transcript, and demonstrate a high school grade point average of 2.0 or higher. High School students may register for classes starting on May 20.
Application, assessment, orientation, and registration information is available online at www.gavilan.edu, as is a complete schedule of classes. Students with internet access are encouraged to apply and enroll online. For those who need assistance, a Welcome Center is available at the Gilroy campus, in the Admission and Records area. Assistance is also available at the Morgan Hill and Hollister sites.
