On April 11 Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will distribute $1,385,218 to the San Benito Health Foundation (SBHF) for health care centers in San Benito County.

ā€œAffordable and accessible health care is vital, and Federally Qualified Health Centers like San Benito Health Foundation, help make that possible. SBHF plays a crucial role in San Benito County, and I’m proud to announce this federal funding. The need to sustain and expand health care programs is especially dire in San Benito County, and I will continue working to ensure options are available for all of our neighbors in CA-18,ā€ said Rep. Zoe Lofgren.

This funding comes from HHS’s Health Center Program, which is overseen by the Health Resources and Services Administration, to support community-based and patient-directed nonprofit organizations that provide primary and preventive health care services to underserved populations in the U.S. The grant was funded in the Fiscal Year 2024 consolidated appropriations package that Lofgren voted in favor of.
