Drivers navigating their way to U.S. 101 in Gilroy will see permanent road closures coming in May, as major improvements are made to the historically traffic-plagued highway interchange at U.S. 101 and S.R. 25.

Starting May 1 access to US 101 from Castro Valley Road and Mesa Road will permanently close. This closure is part of a major improvement project that includes a new, extended southbound off-ramp from US 101 to SR 25, designed to improve traffic flow and enhance safety.

After May 1, traffic going to Gavilan College will use Monterey Road to W. Luchessa Avenue, then Thomas Road to Santa Teresa Boulevard.

Traffic control and detour signs will be in place for guidance. For project updates, visit vta.org/sr25 or contact VTA Community Outreach at 408-321-7575.
