
A roadway safety improvement project along Highway 25 is scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 1.
According to a recent Caltrans press release, the project will work to correct the super elevation and widen existing shoulders along Highway 25 from Sunnyslope/Tres Pinos Road to San Felipe Road in Hollister.
Motorists can expect to encounter single-lane daytime closures at various locations. Details are as follows:
Highway 25/ Northbound from East Park Street to San Felipe Road
- Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Highway 25/Southbound from East Park Street to San Felipe Road
- Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Highway 25/North and Southbound from just south of Sunnyslope Road to East Park Street
- Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes. Electronic message signs have been posted alerting motorists of this construction work scheduled to complete this fall.

According to the press release, roadwork includes reconstruction of all curb ramps at six intersections of Highway 25 from Sunnyslope Road to San Felipe Road. Detours for pedestrians will be provided.
A roadway section on Highway 25 between Santa Ana Road and San Felipe Road intersections will be rebuilt, the release said. This work should be carried out in two stages:
Stage 1: Both lanes of southbound Highway 25 will be blocked off with temporary guardrail (K-rail). Northbound Highway 25 lanes are to split up (traffic switch), one for northbound and the other for southbound traffic.
Stage 2: Both lanes of northbound Highway 25 will be blocked off with temporary guardrail (K-rail). Southbound Highway 25 lanes are to split up (traffic switch), one for northbound and the other for southbound traffic.
The contractor for this $6 million project is Graniterock of Watsonville, CA.
