Take a walk down San Benito Street and enjoy some of the original art displayed in the windows of local businesses. Yes, it’s time for the San Benito County Saddle Horse Show Parade! This year’s theme is “Boots, Broncs and Bandanas.” Students from Sacred Heart Parish School covered the downtown area last week decorating local windows in preparation for the Saddle Horse and Rodeo Parade. Â
The parade will be held in downtown Hollister on June 23 from 6-7:30 p.m.
Students were selected from eight classrooms to be the artists. This year, Sacred Heart was the only school to volunteer to decorate the windows.
Original drawings by students of all ages are mixed in with the window displays. In some of the pieces, the artists were guided by a Sacred Heart parent who created some of the outlines. The art was full of the rodeo spirit, bringing to life San Benito County’s own unique version of the Old West.Â
The Saddle Horse Show Parade has been occurring for more than 80 years. Everyone is encouraged to take part in a San Benito County tradition in downtown Hollister by entering or watching the parade. Bands, service clubs, 4-H clubs and businesses are all encouraged to enter, and the do not need to be a Chamber of Commerce member to enter the parade.Â
Â
“Boots, Broncs, and Bandanas” Parade entry forms can be found on the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce website or by calling the Chamber office 637-5315.Â
