Day 2 of the 84th annual San Benito County Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo was full of excitement and tradition on Saturday, June 24 at the Bolado Park Event Center.

Dating back to 1929, the family-oriented show that started in 1929 captures the cultural heritage of the early California Vaquero style of horseback riding and care of livestock.

Saturday's events included the horse show’s signature class, the Figure 8 Roping, which is unique to this saddle horse show. The halter horse show kicked off the day's events in the barn and the grand entry parade featured pageantry at the track early in the afternoon.

Events for children, such as best working outfit, junior reined stock horse, junior western horsemanship and junior cow horse, preceded cattle sorting and the Figure-8 event. Other arena events on Saturday included team roping, bronc riding, tie-down roping, junior barrel racing and more.

Crowd favorites each year include the team roping events, bull riding, wild cow milking, the wild horse race and appearances by a rodeo clown.

The show and rodeo wrap up on Sunday with another grand entry parade at 1:30 p.m. followed by a full slate of action. See the schedule below:
