The San Benito County CattleWomen’s Association held their 2nd Annual Moooooovie Night on March 28, 2018 at Premiere Cinemas in Hollister. Guests were treated to a viewing of John Ford’s 1956 movie, The Searchers, and movie theater treats such as hot dogs, candy, cookies, free popcorn, beer and wine.
Ranked #12 on the American Film Institute’s “100 years….100 Movies”, The Searchers starred John Wayne, Jeffery Hunter, Vera Miles, Ward Bond and Natalie Wood. Raffle and door prizes were also given out with proceeds benefiting the association’s Beef Promotion Committee.
Sally Silva, Beef Promotion Committee Chair, said, “The event was very successful and a record amount of people turned out. Thank you to our committee members for creating such a memorable event. We can’t wait until next year!” Breaking last year’s record attendance, we were able to raise $1,000 for promotional projects."
The committee promotes beef and its business by marketing beef facts and recipe flyers on beef counters in local supermarkets, distributing reusable and stylish grocery totes with “I Heart Beef” printed on it, and engaging the community with frequent events and ads.
We would like to thank our sponsors for this event, which include, the CattleWomen members who donated various food, supplies, and prizes that were crucial to the success of our event. Thank you to Premiere Cinemas – Hollister for donating the movie. Lastly, we’d like to express a special thank you to Mike Pera for donating the raffle prize in memory of Marie Pera, a former San Benito County CattleWomen’s Association treasurer.
We hope to see you again at next year’s Moooooovie Night!
