The Board of Directors of the 33rd District Agricultural Association, organizer of the San Benito County Fair, announced this year's fair will expand from three to four days. Opening Thursday, Oct. 1 and running through Sunday, Oct. 4, this year’s fair will offer an additional day of amusements, entertainment, exhibits, and other activities. In keeping with tradition.
In conjunction with this announcement, Fair CEO/Manager Donnette Carter shared the results of the recent theme contest held via the Fair’s Facebook page.
“We are excited to inform the community that our theme for 2015 will be ‘Cowboy Boots & Local Roots,’ the concept of which was provided by Hollister resident Jennifer Morris," Carter said. "The Board gave thoughtful consideration to all of the submissions and felt this theme speaks not only to the agriculture and ranching heritage of the area, but also the importance of the local community’s role in the fair, and the roots from which our fair has grown.” For her winning submission, Morris will be awarded with complimentary entrance and parking through the run of the fair.
Planning is well underway for all aspects of the 2015 San Benito County Fair, and Carter noted that many volunteer opportunities are available. Individuals may select to serve on one of the many fair committees, or sign up to assist during the fair itself. Volunteer roles are plentiful and vary based on the interest of the individuals and the functions of the fair. Year-round volunteers are also welcome to work in the office or on the grounds at Bolado Park Event Center, home of the fair. For more information, contact Carter at the Fair office, 831-628-3421.
