County Librarian Nora Conte’ explains their newest campaign “One Thousand books before 1st Grade” campaign to Elidra Lozana and Jose’ Perez.

The San Benito County Library on Monday kicked off National Library Week with free events continuing throughout the week. The day began with a celebratory cake and events showcasing some of the library’s new additions.  

More free events this week:

EXPRESS YOURSELF WITH ART – Wednesday, April 15

3:30 p.m.: Colors! Colors! Colors! Experiment and explore colors with artist and educator Christine Tarnai-Hammer.  (Elementary school-age children)

EXPRESS YOURSELF WITH MUSIC – Thursday, April 16

3:30 p.m.: Zumba for Kids! Dance to great music with easy to follow kid-friendly moves. 

4:30 p.m.: Special Surprise!  (Hint, hint – isn’t the library a wonderful place to express yourself>)

MUSIC AND AUTHOR TALKS – Friday, April 17

4:30 p.m.: “Songs of the Heart” – Enjoy a performance by the Oriana Chorale with keyboard accompaniment by Masae Ariki.

5 p.m.:  “Imaginary Animal” Author Talk – Join us for a special author talk featuring published Poet Rachelle Escamilla, recipient of the Virginia de Arujo Academy of American Poets and Willow Books Literature awards.
