San Benito GIVES brings in $104,289 for local nonprofits

San Benito Agricultural Land Trust, Pet Friends, and Neighbors Helping Neighbors had the largest amount of donors.

The 24-hour San Benito GIVES effort ended at midnight Tuesday with nonprofits San Benito Agricultural Land Trust, Pet Friends, and Neighbors Helping Neighbors taking the top three spots. The fundraiser, which opened up early May 1 for those who wanted to give ahead of the May 15 event, brought in $104,289 for 32 San Benito County nonprofits serving a wide variety of needs.

San Benito Agricultural Trust, which aims to provide partnerships with land owners that create economic benefits for farm and ranch owners while permanently protecting land from development, came in first place with 98 unique donors. Pet Friends came in second with 81 donors and Neighbors Helping Neighbors, Aromas came in third with 71 donors respectively.

San Benito GIVES is an online fundraising platform established through MightyCause. On the San Benito GIVES team page, community members could can learn about and select from the 32 nonprofits involved. This year, the Community Foundation for San Benito County had a new partner, the Monterey Peninsula Foundation. Together they offered special incentive prizes for donations made throughout the day on May 15. Those prizes included a first and last donation, mystery hour golden ticket, and several power hours through out the event. To see the full San Benito GIVES results click here.
