The San Benito Stage Company 2019 season kicks off this weekend at Aroma Cellars in downtown Hollister.

The season begins Feb. 8 with the adult show “Sylvia,” which focuses on married couple Greg and Kate (played by real life married couple Jason and Robin Harris) who have moved to Manhattan after 22 years of child-raising in the suburbs.

Greg’s career as a financial trader is winding down, while Kate’s career as a public school English teacher is beginning to offer her more opportunities. Greg brings home a dog he found in the park—or that has found him—bearing only the name “Sylvia” (played by Mima Torrenueva) on her name tag. A street-smart mixture of Lab and Poodle, Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between the husband and wife, which leads to a series of hilarious and touching complications.

The show, which is intended for mature audiences, is directed by Duane Holt, produced by Anne Hall and Suzanne Proctor, and also stars Matt Morrison. Join San Benito Stage Company at Aroma Cellars Feb. 8 through Feb. 23 to see just how Greg, Kate and Sylvia work things out! Tickets can be purchased online at brownpapertickets.com or at Postal Graphics in Hollister.
