San Juan Oaks Golf Club announces first General Manager change

Manny Freitas is the successor to Scott Fuller, general manager since the venue opened in October 1996.

San Juan Oaks Golf Club announced Manny Freitas as the new General Manager, according to a July 9 press release. Freitas is the successor to Scott Fuller, general manager since the venue opened in October 1996.

In early June, Fuller left his general manager position at San Juan Oaks to move to his new position as consultant/project manager to San Juan Oaks owner Ken Gimelli, according to the press release. Fuller will focus solely on developing the approved Active Adult Community Project on the San Juan Oaks property. The development includes approximately 1,000 homes for active adults aged 55 and older, an on-site resort hotel, as well as commercial retail. Fuller was instrumental in gaining approval of the golf course, and in leading the construction efforts that built the course back in 1996, the press release stated.

"Manny's experience, knowledge, and dedication to San Juan Oaks makes him the perfect person to assume the general manager position at this time, and the perfect person to take the operation of San Juan Oaks to the next level," Fuller said.

Freitas has been an integral part of the San Juan Oaks operation since its inception. His beginnings as a cart attendant provided advancement opportunities to assistant golf professional, human resource manager, director of marketing, assistant general manager, and most recently director of golf, and have prepared him well for his new position, the press release stated. Born and raised in San Benito County, Freitas also brings a local connection to the community San Juan Oaks has come to know.

"I am really excited to take on this new opportunity to move San Juan Oaks into a positive direction" Freitas said. He also said his goal for the future is to "Establish San Juan Oaks as the go to place in San Benito County for golf, food, and special events".
