San Juan Oaks Golf Club has been selected as one of 48 host sites for 2026 U.S. Amateur Local Qualifying, welcoming many of the region’s top amateur golfers to Hollister on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, as they begin their path toward one of the most historic and respected championships in the game.

Conducted by the United States Golf Association, the U.S. Amateur Championship has long been regarded as one of golf’s premier amateur competitions, showcasing elite collegiate players, accomplished mid-amateurs, top junior golfers and future professional stars. The 2026 U.S. Amateur Championship will be held August 10–16 at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, with Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, also serving as a host course.

Being selected as a qualifying site places San Juan Oaks among a select group of courses entrusted to identify players capable of competing on one of amateur golf’s biggest stages.

ā€œThis is exciting not only for San Juan Oaks, but for Hollister and San Benito County,ā€ said Manny Freitas, General Manager of San Juan Oaks Golf Club. ā€œHosting a U.S. Amateur qualifier gives us the opportunity to showcase our golf course, our hospitality and our community to some of the best amateur players in the region. We are honored to be part of the qualifying pathway for one of the most historic championships in amateur golf.ā€

Originally designed by PGA legend Fred Couples and architect Gene Bates, San Juan Oaks offers a layout that is both challenging and fair. With rolling elevation changes, strategic bunkering, firm and fast greens and a setting framed by the natural beauty of the San Juan Valley, the course is well suited to test every part of a player’s game while still rewarding thoughtful shot-making and sound course management.

The selection also reflects the continued momentum surrounding San Juan Oaks and its growing reputation as one of Northern California’s premier golf destinations. Following recent enhancements to the golf course, practice facilities, clubhouse and overall guest experience, San Juan Oaks continues to build on its position as a championship-caliber venue while remaining deeply connected to the local community.

Players and guests visiting for the qualifier will experience not only a demanding golf course, but also the full San Juan Oaks hospitality experience, including 36 Degrees North, McCann’s, Slices, a renovated Pro Shop and welcoming clubhouse amenities.

Located just outside San Juan Bautista in the rolling hills of Hollister, California, San Juan Oaks Golf Club is proud to welcome the players, officials, families and spectators connected to the 2026 U.S. Amateur Local Qualifier.
