Youth ages 12to 18 living within the Aromas San Juan Unified School District boundaries are invited to apply to join f the 11-member San Juan Bautista Youth Commission. Commissioners provide insight regarding youth and teen issues to assist the city in addressing the needs of youth while allowing participants to experience a unique opportunity to work with city leaders. 

The Commission, which will have four seats open in October, creates events and special programs designed to positively influence the youth of San Juan Bautista.  

Applications are available at City Hall, 311 Second St., and on the city website. They are due by Friday, Sept. 29.

Youth Commission Duties

  • Attend regular meetings the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the San Juan Bautista Community Center, 10 San Jose St.
  • Organize special events and participate in activities such as parades and street fairs.
  • Provide the City Council with advice about the youth of the community and provide local youth with information about their city government.
  • Identify, study and hold forums on problems and concerns of the youth, and research and advise the council about local and state laws affecting youth.
  • Involve the youth of San Juan Bautista by developing events and activities that connect youth with the community.
  • Set the Commission’s goals and objectives each year and have the chance to serve in the ffficer roles of chair, vice chair, treasurer and secretary.=

All applicants must be available for an interview on Oct. 6.
