SBC CattleWomen Hold Fall Fashion Show

10th annual event featured local merchants and vendors

The SBC CattleWomen held their 10th Annual Fashion show on Nov. 15 at San Juan Oaks Golf and Country Club.  It was the highest attendance in years. The day started with intermittent rain in the late morning—wonderful, wonderful rain!

The event opened with the normal pledge of allegiance to America. Tributes to three CattleWomen who have passed on – Nadine Sparling Hitchcock, Charlotte (Punky) Tranberg, and “Bobbie” Miller.  A moment of silence was observed for the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks. The menu for the event was beef kabobs with onions, green pepper along with white/wild rice and fresh vegetables—a very flavorful and healthful meal!

This year merchants participating in the Fashion Show were from Bella Charm, Irma’s, McAbee Feed and LA Hearne. Bella Charm had Lynn Shaffer and Kim Vallejo as coordinators with models Haley Leibold, Charlotte Cabral, Shannon Maguire and Kelly Sonnenschein; Irma’s had coordinator Karin Tonascia with models Emily Tonascia, Haley Webb and Karen Strohn; McAbee Feed Coordinators Jackie McAbee and Baily Brown with models Blair Brown and Avrie Hubbel; L.A. Hearne Co. had coordinator Cassandra Cabral with models Morgan Johnson and Kim Kearns. The models displayed both western and contemporary chic styles of the current season.

A group of local vendors added to the lively spirit of the occasion by showing their personal and unique wares.  Those participating this year were Bonnie Rich, Michelle Castro, Stephanie Calderon, Cheryl Bernardo, San Benito Bene, Irma’s and Bella Charm.  There were original sketches of western art, fine leather accessories, jeweler in all shapes and sizes, along with fashionable clothing appropriate for the discerning CattleWomen.

The master of ceremonies was CattleWoman Dara Tobias. CattleWoman Margaret Prewett donated a lovely handmade afghan in fall colors as the door prize.

A raffle was held with items from local merchants and CattleWomen members which were outstanding: wines, jewelry, paintings, prints, one of a kind items—which made the event very exciting.

The Fashion Show Committee consisted of Jayme Stewart, Chair; Jae Eade, Sandy Williams, Darbie Ricotti, Charlotte Cabral, Debbie Loos, Nenette Corotto and Cheri Holliday
