SBC Farm Bureau Hosts Annual Farm Day

Youth agriculture educational event hosted by San Benito County Farm Bureau

San Benito County Farm Bureau hosted their twenty first annual San Benito County Farm Day, Tuesday.  Held at Bolado Park, almost one thousand third graders and more than one hundred seventy five teachers, chaperones and volunteers were in attendance.

The educational event is designed to teach youngsters about farm animals, agricultural equipment, water, and fruits and vegetables through presentations and hands on, interactive participation.

According to the Farm Bureau, Agriculture is the largest industry in the San Benito county, with over eighty five crops and goods in production.  The Farm Bureau also states that each American farmer feeds more than one hundred fourty four people, a dramatic comparison to the 25 people per farmer rate in the 1960s.
