San Benito High School 2014 alumna Rachel Logue has started her Ph.D. journey at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, having been awarded four-year funding for her project focusing on balance and movement issues in young children and elderly people with a goal of being able to help patients with Parkinson’s disease and children who have suffered traumatic brain injuries.
A top 10 graduate from the Baler class of 2014 and the daughter of former SBHS employees Jennifer and Randy Logue, Rachel was a 2018 graduate of the Honors College at San Diego State University with a degree in kinesiology and a grade point average over 3.9, according to a recent release from SBHS. She earned a master’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Michigan in May 2019 and began her research this Fall.
While working on her master’s, Rachel was a teacher’s assistant and also tutored athletes in the Michigan athletic department. As part of her Ph. D. pursuit, she is teaching a movement lab for undergrads as well as conducting her research.
