San Benito High School seniors have until March 7, 2015  to apply for the Class of 1971 Scholarship, which is sponsored by the SBHS alumni class of 1971. Every year the 1971 Balers offer a $2,000 scholarship. Thus far, $14,000 in scholarships have been awarded since 2009.

The Class of 1971 Scholarship committee considers applicants in financial need. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:
• plan to attend a two-year college, four-year college, university, trade school, or technical school
• have participated in community and school activities
• have a GPA between 2.5 and 3.5 (overall non-weighted)

Interested students may pick up an application package at the Career Center in Room 184. In addition to completing the required forms in the package, applicants must submit a 200-word essay describing the obstacles that they have overcome to become who they are today.
