The San Benito High School alumni Class of 1971 is pleased to announce that Nubia Resendiz is this year's recipient of the group's $2,000 scholarship. According to Rudy Bermudes, president of the Class of 1971 Scholarship, the 2015 Baler graduate is an outstanding student with plans to major in psychology and pursue a career in law enforcement.
Established in 2007, the Class of 1971 Scholarship has awarded $14,000 in scholarships over the last seven years to graduating Balers. It is the only scholarship sponsored by an alumni class of San Benito High School.
The scholarship is funded through generous donations from the 1971 Balers and friends. Its primary fundraising event is an annual luncheon and silent auction in Hollister. This year, the fundraiser will be Saturday, August 15 at the Pinnacle Hills Golf Course in Tres Pinos.
