Editor’s note: Police have reported the shooting victim has died.

On Oct. 18, Hollister police responded to a shooting at the intersection of Sunnyslope and Valley View roads that left one victim with unknown injuries, according to police.

Sgt. Chris Wells told BenitoLink said the investigation is fresh and he could not release any information about the victim.

However, he said the victim drove themself to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital and was later airlifted to another hospital.

He said police have not made an arrest and could not speak to if police had any suspects.

“We do not know the motivation behind the shooting,” Wells said. “Detectives are still working on it.”

Wells said police responded to a report of a shooting at 7:22 p.m. and that detectives, as of 11 p.m. were still investigating the circumstances of the shooting.

He said police closed portions of Sunnyslope and Valley View roads to process the scene and Sunset Drive to allow the helicopter to land and take off.

The roads have since been reopened.
