Road construction in Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties will be limited from 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9 until 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, according to Caltrans. The limitation is due to Monterey Car Week.
From today through the conclusion of Car Week, ongoing Caltrans-related construction projects will suspend non-emergency road work. There will be no daytime lane closures, Caltrans said. Drivers should expect heavy traffic on area highways.
