The Superior Court of San Bentio County is now seeking applications to become a member of the San Benito County Civil Grand Jury. The civil grand jury is an historic institution and serves an important role in local society. Serving on the civil grand jury gives residents an exciting and unique opportunity to have a significant impact on local government. The 19-member civil grand jury is an independent body empowered to investigate operations of city and county governments as well as other tax-supported agencies and special districts responding also to citizen complaints on government issues.
To qualify to be on the grand jury, you must be United States citizens, at least 18 years of age, have a working knowledge of the English language, and have resided in the county of San Benito for at least one year. The court seeks volunteers who represent the ethnic and
cultural diversity of the communities within the county. All qualified citizens interested in serving on the 2025-2026 Civil Grand Jury are invited to submit an application to the Superior Court of San Benito Cruz County for consideration.
The Superior Court will hold a remote informational meeting about becoming a grand juror on Thursday, May 1, 2025, starting at 5:30 p.m. A link to the meeting can be found on the court’s website.
Interested members of the community are invited to join the meeting to learn about the benefits of becoming a grand juror from people who have served on previous juries.
