Hollister Police on March 14 arrested 20-year-old Ramiro Ramos Jr. for robbery and charges of resisting arrest after responding to City Gas at Third and San Benito streets after a report of an in-progress robbery.

The suspect was described as wearing a Halloween-type mask, described as a Jason hockey goalie mask from the “Friday the 13th” movies and was reported to have entered the business and told the occupants he had a gun in his waist band. He allegedly demanded money from the register and later demanded lottery tickets. The clerk complied and the suspect left. 

Hollister Police officers were in the area at the time of the 911 call and located the suspect near Jerry’s restaurant, approximately one block north from the original crime scene. Police say the suspect initially resisted arrest, but after a short struggle was placed into custody and eventually booked into San Benito County Jail. 

Police say a "large sum of currency" and lottery tickets were located on the suspect’s. The mask and related items allegedly used during the crime were located nearby location where the suspect was arrested.
