Suspect sought in burglary from Mission San Juan Bautista

Thief accused of stealing two donations boxes from the church; public's help sought in identifying him

The San Benito County Sheriff's Office is seeking leads as it attempts to identify a suspect accused of entering Mission San Juan Bautista and stealing two donation boxes containing an unknown amount of money.

The theft occurred on Friday, July 8 at approximately 2:30 p.m., according to a media release.

The sheriff's office said the suspect forced open one of the donation boxes, took the currency and fled on foot. The department is asking for help identifying the subject, whose image was captured on a security camera.
