Already a stalwart of the BenitoLink internship program, Taylor Farms has agreed to up its support for training young journalists and marketers to $20,000 this year.

For years, Taylor Farms has played an essential role in the local nonprofit news organization’s program, along with the Monterey Peninsula Foundation/AT&T Golf Tour, which has contributed $50,000 to the paid internship initiative in the last few years.

“Interns are an important part of our team,” BenitoLink executive director Leslie David said. “Our internship program adds input from youth while giving them a paid, real, life work experience. Some stick with journalism and others go on to do other things but they all leave with a better chance of being hired.”

In addition, BenitoLink regularly receives a range of smaller donations from $5,000 to $10,000 to sustain the program, as well as $13,000 contributed by San Benito residents during this year’s inaugural Press-Tigious awards event.

Currently, BenitoLink staff is busy reviewing internship applications from young journalists (reporters, photographers and videographers) and marketers ahead of the busy summer season when we can take on the largest numbers of interns working the most hours.

BenitoLink traditionally offers intern positions ranging from full-time to about 10-20 hours per week. College-age interns are paid, as are those still in high school.

Internship opportunities are available in reporting and photography/videography, marketing and graphics, computer developer, research and data, and administrative services.
