Featuring everything from Balloon Darts, Bean Bag Toss, Coin Toss, Duck Pond Matching, and Putterball golf, the Teatro Family Day fundraiser was held at El Teatro Campesino on April 26.
Christy Sandoval, the first female executive director of El Teatro Campesino, said the program was inspired by a very real need to raise funds to support their educational programming in San Benito County, and began about eight years ago.
āSince then, weāve grown and expanded these funds,ā Sandoval said. āThey support all of our community arts programming and youth programs that we offer for free.ā
She said itās important because the theater believes that every human being is creative and has an innate need to create.
Hollister’s Ruben Gonzalez said he wanted to support the theater and its family day, which he sees as a big pillar in the community.
“My wife Sonora Vasquez grew up in this theater,” Gonzalez said. “And I did a lot of work here in this theater. “
