Described by the SF Chronicle as a “superb, blood-racing exhibition of taiko drumming”, San Jose Taiko has brought the powerful sounds and tradition of taiko drumming to audiences for over 3 decades. A regular feature in the SBC Arts Council’s Artists in the Schools Program, San Jose Taiko will leave you mesmerized by their percussive rhythms, physical choreography and electrifying stage presence. This performance is especially crafted for both youth and adult audiences.
Dimensions Dance Theater, based out of Oakland, has advanced African-American inspired dance through their presentation of both traditional and contemporary dance, including African, Jazz, Modern and Hip Hop. A recent review by the SF Chronicle stated that Dimensions Dance Theater “was exhilarating…wondrously free movement and wild drumming”. On May 30th, they will present a dance and drumming medley that is sure to thrill spectators, young and old!
This performance is sponsored by the San Benito County Arts Council with generous support from Corbin, Heritage Bank of Commerce, the California Arts Council, Community Foundation for San Benito County and Monterey Peninsula Foundation.
