Wildfire season got underway in San Benito County on July 16 with the now-contained Trail Fire.
According to the Cal Fire San Benito-Monterey Unit, the wildfire started at approximately 2:30 p.m. It burned 14 acres and began near the Thousand Trails campground. Campers at Thousand Trails evacuated when the fire started to spread.
Local rancher Bryan Granger told BenitoLink he was first on the scene with a water truck and started putting out the blaze, which was moving toward Fox Creek Ranch.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
