Looking for something to do for Mom this Mother’s Day? Here are some local options. We cannot cover all the options for bunch, gifts or entertainment, so if you don’t see your favorites below, call to see if they have anything special happening on Mom’s day.
Brunch, etc.
FlapJacks: Open for breakfast and lunch. Special Mother’s Day offerings were not available at the time of publication, but this spot in Tres Pinos is always a go-to on special days. 6881 Airline Hwy, Tres Pinos.
The Inn in Tres Pinos: Strolling Brunch 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Strolling Lunch 2-4 p.m. 6991 Airline Hwy, Tres Pinos.
Running Rooster: Brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 800 San Benito Street, Hollister.
La Catrina: Specials—ribeye steak and coconut shrimps—served all day. There will also be yet-to-be-determined drink specials. 449 San Benito St., Hollister.
Paine’s: Usually closed on Sunday, the restaurant and bar will be open noon to 8 p.m. just for Mom. Reservations are recommended. 831-637-3882. 421 East Street, Hollister.
Jardines de San Juan: Mother’s Day brunch in the garden, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To purchase tickets email events@jardinerestarant.com $45. $50 at door for adults; kids 3-12 $15; 0-2 free. 115 3rd St San Juan Bautista.
Gifts
The Garden Shoppe: Calling itself a “A Great Destination to Unwind,” this downtown spot offers gifts sourced from small businesses, and has a wine bar and patio if Mom wants to put her feet up. Open Sundays noon to 6 p.m. 364 Seventh Street in Hollister.
Bene Gifts Hollister has many novelty gifts for Mom. Located at 615-B San Benito Street and open Monday through Saturday.
Irma’s Fashions has all the latest styles for Mom to wear on her special day. Located at 230 Fifth Street in Hollister and open Monday through Saturday.
The Thrift Store in San Jaun Bautista has lots of bargains if you don’t want to break the bank. Located at 101 The Alameda and open seven days a week. Good news for those last minute shoppers: There’s just enough time to grab a gift before heading to Mom’s house for Mother’s Day lunch.

Want to take Mom to a live show or to the movies? San Benito Stage Company is staging Disney’s “Moana Jr”. in Hollister and El Teatro Campesino in San Juan Bautista is staging “Adiós Mamá Carlota,” by Luis Valdez. If movies are more Mom’s style Premier Cinemas in Hollister has 10 films to choose from.
