San Benito High School District Trustee William Tiffany, a 1968 graduate of SBHS, was recognized by his colleagues on Nov. 27 for his 16 years of service to the board and the school. Tiffany chose not to run for re-election and will be succeeded by 1987 Baler alumnus Miguel Sahagun in December.

Superintendent Dr. Shawn Tennenbaum shared words of appreciation for Tiffany on behalf of the district, saying that he “has served his alma mater with a steady focus and balance that was unprecedented. Trustee Tiffany provided more than just a calm, balanced approach, he provided unwavering stability and a focus on ensuring the District was always headed in the right direction.”

Tiffany fondly recalled his time as a student on campus, where he was senior class president in a class of 235 graduating seniors. He discussed how much the campus has changed in the last 50 years and how the community should appreciate what the district has done with community-supported bond measures to improve the campus in recent years.

Tiffany praised the dedication of the SBHS faculty, staff, campus supervisors, administrators and others. He noted how various measures of academic success have been on an upward trend and said students should count themselves fortunate to have school leaders worth emulating.

Tennenbaum praised Tiffany for his leadership on the safety effort to close Nash Road where it bisects campus and pointed out that “he has also helped to forge lasting relationships with the greater school community. There is no greater contribution one can provide than the service to the next generation."

Tiffany said he “feels honored to have been able to serve this district” and he was commended by Board President Steve Delay, Trustees Patty Nehme and John Corrigan, and Principal Adrian Ramirez, who also shared words of thanks to Tiffany for his service to the school community.
