Hollister Police are reporting that two area businesses were robbed at gunpoint on Monday, Jan. 30.
According to a press release from the HPD, a male subject walked into Andy’s All About Fruit at 193 McCray St.at about 7:11 p.m., placed a dark cover over his face, walked to the checkout counter and produced a handgun. He demanded money from the store clerk and took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and ran out of the store.
The store clerk described the subject as a male, 5 feet, 4 inches tall with a thin build, in his early 20s. He was described as wearing tan or grey pants, a dark hoodie sweatshirt and a dark colored mask.
About 8:25 p.m. on the same evening, two males entered Happy Café, 191 San Felipe Rd. Police say the first male walked up to the counter, produced a black handgun and demanded money from one of the businesses’ employees. The second male allegedly watched the door as the suspect was given cash before the two males fled the area on foot.
The description of the suspect with the handgun description was “very similar to that of the previous robbery,” the police statement said. The second male was described as being 5 feet, 3 inches tall with a thin build, in his early 20s, wearing all-black clothing and a mask. Two additional persons were seen in the area, but their involvement is not known at this point, police said. Both suspects had not been caught as of Tuesday evening and were considered armed and dangerous.
“This is an ongoing investigation and police officers are still speaking to witnesses and anyone in the area that may have seen the suspects,” police said.
