The County of San Benito is pleased to share continued progress on the Union Road Rehabilitation Project, which remains on track for completion by June 26, 2026, weather permitting.

Major roadway improvements have now been completed, including the Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) and paving operations along Union Road, marking a significant
milestone for the project.

Over the next several weeks, crews will focus on remaining items, including:

  • Rumble strip installation,
  • Roadway striping,
  • Construction of the asphalt concrete (AC) dike, and
  • Minor drainage improvements.

Rumble strip installation and roadway striping are planned for the week of May 18, with AC dike installation anticipated in early June.

Traffic control will be in place during the rumble strip and AC dike work, and motorists should expect delays along Union Road between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Minor drainage improvements are not expected to cause significant traffic impacts.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, reduce speeds in the construction zone, and follow posted signage and directions from traffic control personnel to help ensure the safety of workers and the traveling public.

The County appreciates the community’s continued patience and cooperation as work progresses to improve roadway safety and long-term infrastructure reliability. The County remains committed to completing the project as efficiently as possible while minimizing disruptions to residents and travelers.
