The San Benito County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible homicide in the 3200 block of Salinas Grade/San Juan Road, according to a statement released by the department. Capt. Eric Taylor clarified on Thursday that the decedent "is not related to San Jose Police Department's missing person. We have been in contact with SJPD since the onset of our case and have ruled out our decedent as being related."
A deputy located a body over the embankment of the winding, rural road that connects San Benito and Monterey counties through the Gabilan mountain range.
"This investigation is in its beginning stages and there is no further information at this time," Taylor said in a statement, noting that more information will be provided "as more information develops."
