CalFire was battling a blaze in southern San Benito County around 2:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, east of King City, north of Highway 198 and east of Highway 25. The state firefighting agency reported that the fire near Lewis Creek damaged two outbuildings and two residential structures and had grown to approximately 237 acres by 9:30 p.m.

CalFire's public affairs bureau said that the blaze, dubbed the King Fire, was spreading through "light flashy fuel transitioning to brush in steep terrain."
