Update: A cold temperature warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Hollister Valley, Northern Salinas Valley and Carmel Valley.
Freeze warning is expected to start Monday night, Feb.19 and go through to Wednesday morning, Feb. 21. The National Weather Service states the cold temperatures will go until 9:00a.m. Wednesday.
The San Francisco office of the National Weather Service has issued the warning for all inland areas of the San Francisco Bay area and Monterey Bay area, including the valleys and hills. The weather service states that overnight lows from the mid 20s to the lower 30s are expected.
Freezing temperatures can damage or kill plants that are sensitive to the cold. The weather service reminds people to "check on the elderly" and check "that animals have shelter."
Sub-freezing temperatures can kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
