Come join the community celebration on Fremont's Peak.

Leslie L. Garratt Post #6359, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Ladies Auxiliary and San Juan Bautista Parlor No. 179 Native Daughters of the Golden West invites the community to celebrate Peak Day/Loyalty Day with an old fashioned picnic commencing at 11:00am on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Fremont Peak State Park.

The event will include a flag raising ceremony at noon, followed by a few patriotic speeches and games for the children.  Free barbecued hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages will be served.

Peak Day/Loyalty Day commemorates Captain John C. Fremont and his expedition’s raising the U.S. Flag on Fremont Peak in 1846 in defiance of the Mexican Government.
