The Hollister VFW Post 9242 and American Legion Post 69 are hosting their 13th annual San Benito County Veterans’ Day Ceremony and Parade in downtown Hollister on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The ceremony will take place at 11:11 a.m. in the Veteran’s Memorial Building and the parade steps off at 1:30 p.m. in downtown Hollister.Â
Applications for the parade are available at Hollister City Hall at 375 Fifth St., the Chamber of Commerce, the VFW website or by calling 638-6434. There is no entry fee for the parade.
Miss California, Marina Inserra, will be a guest speaker at the ceremony and participate in the parade, and two World War II veterans will share the honor of serving as the parade’s grand marshals.Â
Other activities for the day include a breakfast hosted by LULAC at 7 a.m. in the San Benito High School cafeteria and the following activities that will take place at the Veteran’s Memorial Building:
10 a.m. Veterans’ benefit fair
11:11 a.m. Memorial ceremony
11:30 a.m. Banner presentations
Noon  Barbecue lunch
The banner presentations will feature the installation of banners on the light post in the Veteran’s Memorial Building Plaza that individually honor local active-duty military personnel. The banners will remain in place until the service member is deactivated.
