Volunteers are needed to represent the community on the Gavilan College Measure E Citizens’ Oversight Committee.There are current vacancies in the seats designated for a member of a taxpayers’ organization, and a member of a senior citizens’ group.
On March 2, 2004 the voters approved $108 million in general obligation bonds for Gavilan College facilities by passing Measure E. As required by Proposition 39, the Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee is charged with ensuring that revenues from Measure E are spent as promised. The committee’s role is to review and report on district spending of taxpayers’ money for construction and to provide a public accounting of the district’s compliance with legal requirements. The committee includes at-large representatives, representation from business, seniors, students, taxpayers, and the Gavilan College Educational Foundation. All meetings of the Citizens’ Oversight Committee are open to the public
WHEN: The Citizen’s Oversight Committee is scheduled to meet quarterly.
WHERE: Gavilan College Gilroy campus, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd.
This is an all-volunteer committee which currently has several open seats. In order to ensure public review of Measure E activities it is important to have constituents represented on the Citizens’ Oversight Committee.
