Jim Ostdick’s planned eight-month walk across America brought him to West Virginia this week, 430 miles into his 4,000-mile journey from the east coast back to San Benito County to raise awareness of and money for the county being connected to a national trail system.
“I’m at mile 430, about 6 days or so from the Ohio border,” the retired educator said in an email to BenitoLink. “The hardest part of West Virginia is finished – very challenging weather and topography – and I feel great. People here have been unbelievably supportive!” He also wished San Benito County residents a happy Easter.
Ostdick’s journey is being chronicled on his blog, which includes almost-daily updates and photos from his adventure.
He is directing people to the pledge page where they can donate to help R.E.A.C.H. San Benito’s efforts to build local trails and connect them to the national system.
